Silence
Sometimes we find ourselves in situations where we don't know whether we should act or wait and see. We search very hard for the right solution, but we can't find any criteria for a decision. No matter what we do, it could be wrong. We could miss opportunities, we could offend someone, we could have misjudged the circumstances.
In one such situation, I recently received an unexpected gift.
Someone who knew me well offered me the word "silence".
And that changed everything.
Silence is pausing. Silence arises in the short breaks between two breaths. Silence is the gap between two thoughts. Silence is the moment in which my consciousness expands and I can suddenly perceive myself as part of a greater whole.
Silence is.
When we go there, to this quiet place in the center of our own being, we realize: from there, decisions suddenly become less difficult. Fears dissolve. Contradictions turn out to be illusions. New ways of thinking and new paths open up, almost as if by themselves.
What we do from that inner stillness is always the right thing to do.
